Communities of Regenerative Learning 2023 - 2024 Tāmaki Makaurau
Kete Ora Trust was really pleased to support the end-of-project workshop and celebration for this programme, which connected and mentored six farms across the four seasons of the year to help increase their regenerative potential, develop peer to peer support and build community awareness.
The six farms were Growing Point at Dignan St Community Garden in Point Chevalier; Ngāti Whatua Ōrakei’s māra kai Pourewa; Tāmaki Urban Market Garden in Glen Innes; Ihumaatao in Māngere; Kelmarna Community Farm in Herne Bay and FTLOB’s Organic Market Garden in Eden Terrace. The focus was on growing local, abundant and nutritious food using methods that mitigate climate change and increase higher biomass productivity and resilience in the soil. This was a year-long programme that included a three-part data collection process so that participants could monitor the results of their mahi. The programme resulted in greater understanding of soil health, gaining confidence in trial and errors and experiencing the value of data collection - and so much more. It’s really worth reading the final report (PDF, 7.40 MB) to get an idea of the immense value of this programme for the participants.
